Crews attached to Turvey Park and Wagga Fire and Rescue NSW were called out to Ashmont Avenue at 3.25 on Monday morning.
Station officer Aaron Campbell said when the crews arrived they found the house to be fully involved.
It took half-an-hour to control the fire and involved four trucks and two crews with a line hose.
"There was extensive damage to the house and contents," station officer Campbell said.
No-one was home at the time, and no injuries have been reported.
Fire and police teams will remain on the scene this morning. A crime scene will soon be established and an investigation will begin to determine the cause of the fire.
In other news:
Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Stewart Alexander said the teams would "not rule anything in or out" yet.
"Given it's only very recent and still quite hot, and there's some structural instability there, we'll render that safe and NSW Police will have a close look at it."
It is the second house to be destroyed in the area following the South Parade fire on Friday night. The cause of that fire is yet to be determined as well.
As the colder months set in, Superintendent Alexander said these recent fires are a timely reminder to ensure smoke alarms are fitted and working.
"It's absolutely critical that you have a working smoke alarm in your home, or anywhere anyone sleeps - that includes caravans, residential units, boarding homes and the like," Superintendent Alexander.
"Always call Triple Zero we can never get enough calls to Triple Zero. If there's the slightest amount of doubt in your mind, call Triple Zero. Even if you think other people have done it already, just call Triple Zero for life-threatening emergencies."
