On Friday Rebekah Kirby and Crystal Preston celebrated the first anniversary of The Huntress xx, which they opened after Ishka permanently closed its doors on Baylis Street.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It was out of the frying pan and into the fire for the two women, with Wagga entering full-scale lockdown just one week after their opening day.
It was the worst possible timing to open a shop, but now the two ladies are celebrating the fact that they managed to survive one full year of lockdown.
"It has made us learn quicker, which is good, and now we've made it through to the other end," Ms Kirby said.
"It'll be nice once everything gets a little more normal. This whole end of town is going to come alive."
Having lost their jobs at Ishka, the two women were determined to set up their own shop which was "more authentic" and even more bohemian.
The two ladies decided to combine their talents, Ms Kirby with her business savviness and Ms Preston with her penchant for arts and crafts.
Ms Preston has gone on to start her own craft classes inside the shop, where she teaches children and adults how to make their own decor.
"Beck kept saying I needed a shop, somewhere to sell my stuff, and we just wanted to create something more authentic for Wagga," Ms Preston said.
"Beck's got a really good business brain and I'm very handy. We work very well together."
Ms Preston has even taught her two boys how to make and restore furniture, and they have started their own little business to rival their mum's.
