The Daily Advertiser previously reported that council staff discovered the destroyed gates - which have since been repaired - about a week after unauthorised steel shutters were temporarily erected at Tatton Drain and then removed on January 7.
At Monday night's meeting, general manager Peter Thompson told councillors it cost the city and $6060 to fix the damage.
"Within that number is the cost of getting an engineer to look at the older concrete that he had to remount gates on ... the cost of the gates themselves because we put new gates on their and staff time," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Because initially we had to build a sandbag structure so if we happened to get water into the lake between putting the gates back on we would be able to contain it within the lake."
Greg Conkey reiterated his frustrations and anger at the situation on Tuesday morning.
"I am outraged by the fact these gates were destroyed," he said.
"I cannot understand why I am a bit of a lone voice in this.
"$6060 is an enormous amount of money that the Wagga City Council and the community will have to pay. It is disgraceful."
