Crews responded to a 000 call just after 2pm and found the fire burning in timber off Vincents Road.
The RFS dispatched an aircraft to the scene, but 10 fire trucks were able to contain the blaze on the ground.
Some units remained on scene through the afternoon and evening to monitor the timber.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Friday afternoon's fire comes at the beginning of a heatwave through the Australia Day long weekend, with Riverina residents encouraged to stay up to date with fires in their area and check their bushfire survival plans to know what to do if a fire starts near them.
