EARLIER: As residents to travel around the region prepare to celebrate the end of 2020, a truck crash has closed the northbound lane of the Hume Highway.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene about 15 kilometres west of Gunning between the Barton Highway and Federal Highway at 7.20 on Thursday morning.
A NSW Police spokesperson said a B-double had rolled over and the truck's load had spilled onto the highway.
"The driver was conscious and breathing, but had a leg injury and was taken to hospital," they said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Live Traffic NSW advises that diversions are in place and drivers should remain cautious.
If heading towards Sydney from Yass, take the Barton Highway to the Australia Capital Territory, then on to the Federal Highway, and then back on to the Hume Highway.
This will add around 50 minutes to travel time for anyone on the road today.
A heavy vehicle tow truck, emergency services and Transport for NSW remain on the scene.
