About 50 kids put all their training to practice as the Hub provided the opportunity for some of their more experienced swimmers to race before the school carnivals kick off early next year.
Wagga's Commonwealth Games gold medallist and two-time Olympian Brad Kahlefeldt has returned to the city and established Wagga Swim Hub with his wife Radka.
Kahlefeldt said the Christmas Carnival proved to be exactly what they hoped for.
"The night was a huge success, which gave all the level five to level eight kids a chance to race," Kahlefeldt said.
"With a lack of swim meets on due to COVID restrictions, we wanted to provide a fun-filled carnival that is free for all Wagga Swim Hub kids.
"It was an opportunity to come together before Christmas and to get the kids used to swim meets ahead of their swim carnivals coming up through summer. It was about participation rather than winning and all children received a cookie medal and vouchers.
"Our team would like to organise another carnival."
Kahlefeldt said he has loved returning to Wagga after years travelling the globe as a professional triathlete. His wife Radka is also a world-renowned triathlete and the pair have loved seeing the progression of the city's next generation of athletes.
"We have only been open for a few months and we've had hundreds of happy families coming through our doors each week from our Aqua Bub's all the way through to squad level," Kahlefeldt said.
"All the children have progressed really well."
