Demons footballers Matt Geppert and Jackson Sanbrook are excited to be a part of the new venture after agreeing to take on the role.
"We're very happy to coach the team in their first season, it should be a bit of fun," Geppert said.
"We're going to have our first get-together at Glenfield Oval on Tuesday at 6pm."
The Demons are encouraging interested players to join them for a meet-and-greet, casual training and barbeque.
"We've got a list of girls from last year's junior girls comp and we've probably got about 10 older girls who are definitely going to play," Geppert said.
"We've also got some rugby union and leaguetag players coming. I think a lot won't have played AFL before but they're wanting to come and have a game so that'll be good."
Sanbrook assisted Geppert with a Collingullie-GP junior team last year. Back in high school, they also coached a Mater Dei Catholic College girls team for a gala day.
"Obviously that wasn't as serious as this comp is going to be but we're looking forward to it and the challenges it will bring," Geppert said.
The pair intend to work hard on skills , knowing that most players won't have had a long-term upbringing playing the game.
Sanbrook said he's looking forward to being a coach. He'll take plenty out of his five seasons playing under Shane Lenon at Lockhart and Marrar.
"Brett (Somerville, Collingullie-GP coach) came and asked me at training. It's going to be something different, I'll learn a few things and it'll be good to be involved and just help the club out," Sanbrook said.
"The club had a couple of junior teams in the girls comp last year and it'll be good to give them somewhere to keep playing footy."
Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong are also aiming to field a women's team in the expanding comp which is due to start in February.
North Wagga and Narrandera joined last year along with East Wagga-Kooringal, who absorbed the Snowy Mountains. Griffith, Charles Sturt University, Brookdale Bluebells and Riverina Lions all fielded teams.
