After a wash out to start the season, last season's preliminary finalists lost their first four matches before getting on the board against Lake Albert on Saturday.
Rain interrupted both innings, but a number of good contributions from the Saints batting line up put them in good stead at Robertson Oval.
Coach Justin Ward top scored with 59 while after dropping back down the order Nick Fahey made 50.
Captain Beck Frostick then did the damage with the ball, picking up his first five-wicket haul to secure a 63-run win on Duckworth-Lewis.
Frostick was just pleased to get the win.
"It was good to get that first one on the board," Frostick said.
"It is important when it gets to the sixth round to get your first win and hopefully now it can kick us off in the right way."
Ward and Fahey put 86 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership to set up the victory.
Frostick was pleased with how the side responded from their poor start after changing their batting order.
"The most pleasing thing was seeing everyone contribute, apart from myself really," he said.
"When you want to get the score over 200 you need most of the batting order to contribute.
"The few 30s and a couple of 50s was really pleasing."
St Michaels finished their 47 overs at 8-210 before another rain break cut Lake Albert's innings to 39 overs.
However with a revised target of 190, Lake Albert were bowled out for 127 in the 30th over with Alex Tucker the only Bull to make it to 20.
He was one of the five Frostick dismissals, after being bowled for 43, however the Englishman admitted his figures of 5-22 off 6.4 overs was very flattering.
"It was probably the luckiest five-fa in the history of Wagga Cricket," he said.
"There was one good bowl that bowled him (Tucker) and the rest were just catches in the out field or the ring.
"If it weren't for the teammates catching a few I wouldn't have had it even though when I got to three wickets and said I was potentially on for a five-fa all the boys were debating whether to catch it or not just because it was me.
"A couple of them were just having a joke on the field when they took the catches when I got four or five."
Despite the win Frostick is still looking for improvement, particularly in the field and with the ball, ahead of another important clash with Kooringal Colts.
Colts are yet to win this season and Frostick is hoping the right result will give them a little gap of the chasing pack with Lake Albert also with just the one win to their credit ahead of their clash with Wagga City.
