Statewide Emergency Services unit commander Jason McDonell told The Daily Advertiser his team was called out to 16 incidents across the CBD, Estella and Ashmont on Saturday, November 28.

The storm lasted only about 10 minutes during the afternoon but caused significant damage to the city's foliage and at least two powerlines.

Mr McDonell said SES crews finished cleaning up at about 10pm on Saturday night.

Fortunately there were no reports of injuries or loss of property apart from some minor damage, he said.

A tree was brought down on Lampe Avenue in central Wagga and landed on a house, but Mr McDonell said this cut a powerline without causing any damage to the home.

"Essential Energy came and isolated the power before we removed the tree," Mr McDonell said.

The SES has warned residents to keep cars under cover, secure loose items outside the home, keep away from fallen power lines and report all fires or power outages to Essential Energy.

Mr McDonell said SES crews had not been called out to any jobs on Sunday morning.

"But trees are known after a storm like that, with large winds, it might take a couple of days for them to actually fall down even in mild winds. So be careful with trees around," he said.
