Emergency services were called to the scene at 4am on Monday after a fire started in the living room.
Nobody was injured in the fire, but the house sustained severe damage, destroying the belongings of Saskia Edwards, Michael Fitzpatrick and four children.
Family friend Teagan Morrison set up a GoFundMe account for the family, and said neighbours had been accepting physical donations for much of Monday.
She said the house had been "gutted," and she wanted to do something to help the young children after knowing the family for many years.
"We know they lost everything and being this close to Christmas, it would be rough on anyone," she said.
Ms Morrison said support had been strong from both those donating money and those giving household items to help the family through the coming days and weeks.
"Everyone's rallying together, going through their houses, getting what they can," she said.
By early afternoon, the GoFundMe had raised nearly $4000 for the family.
Ms Morrison said the family continued to receive offers of support to get back on their feet, including from a local op shop.
