A police investigation was launched last week after reports a 16-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man who is known to her at a home in Wagga.
The State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad inquiry led detectives to a home where they arrested the 47-year-old man just before 3pm on Sunday.

The man now faces charges of carrying out a sexual act with another without consent and two counts of sexually touch another person without consent.
He faced court on Monday was was refused bail, and is due to appear before Wagga Local Court again on November 11.
