Tumut ended the Cherrypickers' four-game winning streak in the preliminary final but Hall is looking to deliver on higher expectations this time around.

"We're confident we will be a better side as we've had the benefit of this year," Hall said.

"All the education is behind us, the local blokes have that hardened edge and new understanding of where the line is and where the expectations are.

"They are a little bit hungrier after this year too so if we can throw some new faces into that side we think it will be good.

"If everything comes together we will be competing again and hopefully we get a full season."

Young had plenty of new faces in their side this season.

Some were additions before the COVID interruption while others joined as Group Nine powered ahead.

Hall is expecting plenty of turnover with the likes of Nic Hall and Tom Jenkins heading back to new under 21 set ups at Canberra and Penrith respectively.

"It is a shame we are losing those kids but it was already happening and we are very happy for them to go on and further their careers," Hall said.

Josh McCrone isn't expected to play with the club after arriving for the back end of the season and there are doubts if the Picker brothers will commit to another season.

Hall admitted their travelling model from this season won't be sustainable in the long run but has been pleased with the commitment from their local players at this early stage of the off-season.

"We've got some more player meetings happening but pretty much all our locals are locked in and we're just putting the finishing touches on a few senior signatures," Hall said.

"We've got none over the line but it is that little gap at the end of the season where footballers just need a break.

"We've got some events to get last year's senior players back but we are speaking to four or five totally new players who we haven't seen in Young colours before with good pedigrees and experience."

Meanwhile Young also has a new president as they look to continue their surge forward.

Coming off their best first grade performance in over a decade, coupled with another reserve grade grand final appearance and their first leaguetag premiership, the Cherrypickers are confident they are heading in the right direction.

Josh Powderly has come in as the new president replacing Garry Lucas after three seasons at the helm.

Powderly is a new face at the senior club but has come through the juniors committee.

"It should be good," Powderly said.

"They are a really good club with a good committee and really good sub committees.

"There are a lot of smart people there so it is not going to be plenty of help there."

Lucas, who coached the leaguetag premiership, has remained on the committee.
