The 21-year-old Temora product is part of the 27-strong squad for the three-week series.
While the final squad is yet to assemble, Lomax has been revelling in the start of the camp experience on the Central Coast for the past week.
"It's been really good," Lomax said.
"Game one isn't far at all and I'm super excited to see how our team goes.
"I'm sure whatever team is put on the park is going to be really strong and I can't wait to see how NSW go.
"I'm super stoked to be here and it has been really good here just learning off everyone.
"I'm just taking every day as it comes, trying to be the best teammate I can and compete every day at training.
"I've been really enjoying it, the coaching staff have been really good and all the older boys, who have been here and played before, have been really welcoming.
"It is a really good culture here with NSW and hopefully it is a family I can be a part of for a long time."
A standout in a disappointing season for St George Illawarra, Lomax is a realistic chance of securing a NSW centre spot after injuries ruled out incumbent Tom Trbojevic and Brisbane's Kotoni Staggs.
He's joined by Young's Angus Crichton in representing the Riverina in the squad after Liam Martin just missed out on selection.
The Penrith forward was touted as a potential bolter in the squad on the back of a breakout season but wasn't selected after the 26-20 grand final loss to Melbourne on Sunday.
Lomax admitted he was disappointed the fellow Temora product missed out.
"I'm disappointed Marto isn't here as I know he would have loved to and I thought he had a really good season," Lomax said.
"I'm sure the people in this team are going to do such a great job and he's had such a great season for the Panthers.
"He's been one of the unsung heroes and has been so consistent.
"The best thing about Marto is he is such a hard worker and he is such a great human, from such a lovely family and I have so much time for him.
"We've grown up real good family friends and I can't wait to catch up with him and have a couple of beers when we get back to Temora over the Christmas break."
The first of three consecutive State Of Origin games will be played in Adelaide next Wednesday.
