The under-16 boys leg of the South-West Murrumbidgee competition was held in Wagga on Saturday to give up-and-coming talent some more action after this year's Southern Junior League was shut down after just one round.
Teams from Leeton, Albury, West Wyalong, Griffith, Narrandera and Deniliquin joined two Wagga teams in the event.
Basketball Wagga junior representative director Shona Howard said the event will now be held as a virtual "warm up" to their representative schedule.
"Because of COVID all age groups have been on different weekends at different locations over the last month," Howard said.
"We're in the Southern Junior League and we only managed to play one round of that this year so Leeton's Adam O'Callaghan contacted the local club to get this competition up and running.
"If restrictions lift hopefully we'll hold an event at Albury at the end of December, and we'll also hold our rep trials in Wagga on Sunday, November 8.
"These weekends have been happening throughout October to give all our rep players who didn't get a chance to play to get some court time, and going forward this will get added to our calendar."
Wagga Blue won all their games, including a strong victory over Albury, while Wagga Orange prevailed in two.
Each Basketball Wagga representative team has been playing a division above in the local competition, with the under-18 boys winning the under-23 competition earlier this month.
