Carrington's father and Wagga Cycling Club spokesman Cameron Oke said getting her to the start line was a race against time.
"She had the whole week off school and the doctor gave her the OK on Friday lunch time," he said.
"She couldn't come to club training but I was able to get her on a stationary trainer at home."
Oke said the club is in the processing of building up its talent, with the younger age groups showing promise.
"We didn't have a large number in the 15s and 17s, but we've been rebuilding for a few years and we're dominated by the younger age groups," he said.
"That's the future of the club and it's something we want to build on. Showing them the state championships gives them a taste of what it's all about.
"Just shy of 500 people came into town for the event. It assists the town and the Junee community by bringing dollars into the community, especially during this time we're going through."
"Having a very successful state championships this weekend shows the club is very capable of hosting big events."
