Jess McInernery crossed with three minutes to go to put Young back in front of Kangaroos at Twickenham on Sunday.
It was just enough to take a 10-6 win to book their place in the decider.
Young are already enjoying their best and coach Garry Lucas was thrilled to take another important win.
"It is good for the girls as they have never been there before," Lucas said.
"It is a good experience for them."
Shelby Inwood opened the scoring for the Cherrypickers before Kangaroos responded as Jada Hartwig crossed and Brigid Rhynehart's conversion made it 6-4.
It was then tight before McInerney sealed the win.
Lucas thought it was their defensive efforts that really shone through as they limited Kangaroos' chances to play down their end of the field.
"With our tagging we held our field position really well," he said.
"We kept Kangaroos in their own half for most of the game.
"I said to them at half-time they didn't have to win this until the last few minutes of the game.
"We could trail all game as long as we hold them out and tag well we would come away with a win and you have to love it when a plan comes together."
Young are the only team to get the better of Kangaroos this season, after also taking a 14-8 win in horrible conditions at Alfred Oval earlier this season.
They will be looking to respond when they face Brothers in the preliminary final at Anzac Park on Sunday.
Kangaroos have beaten their Wagga rivals twice this year, after ending a decade's worth of outs in the first round of the season.
However Brothers will be determined not to miss out on a grand final appearance since Kangaroos won the inaugural competition in 2008.
They kept their season alive after dominating Gundagai at Equex Centre on Saturday.
Scoring six tries to two, the 28-10 victory keeps their title defence alive.
Brothers have won eight of the last nine grand finals but are yet to get the better of either Kangaroos or Young this season.
They faced their crosstown rivals at Equex Centre in the last round of the season and went down 24-10.
