Morgan prepared Jag ($5.00) to win the Tom Wells Memorial Maiden Plate (1400m) at his first race start.
Mathew Cahill, who enjoyed a double at Gundagai, took Jag straight to the front and never looked troubled from there as he scored by two and a half lengths from Mai Time ($4.60) and Lady Animalia ($6.00).
The four-year-old is the son of Cha Cha Dancer and is a half-brother to Zarlu, another of Morgan's top racehorses.
Jag had not had a public outing since his one and only barrier trial in January where he finished behind Bennelong Dancer, but Morgan certainly had him primed for a first-up victory.
Meantime, Goulburn trainer Danny Williams trained a winning double at Gundagai, courtesy of wins to Rent A Rock ($1.70) and Danesc ($2.00).
Both were ridden to victory by Blaike McDougall.
Tumut trainer Kerry Weir also enjoyed success with Foxlike ($21).
