The Wagga side responded from their first loss of the season to take an important win over Brothers at Equex Centre on Saturday.
Proving their first win over their crosstown rivals in a decade earlier this season wasn't a fluke, Kangaroos scored a 24-10 win to hit back from their loss to Young.
Co-captain Gabe Knight was pleased with how the team responded after the bye.
"It was nice to finish the season with a win going into finals," Knight said.
"To know that we can do it.
"The week at Young was tough so it was nice to come back from it."
Shannon Pike continues to wind back the clock with another strong performance while Sophie Gaynor was dangerous whenever she got her hands on the ball.
Knight believes the result is a big confidence booster heading into finals as they look to go better than their third place finish from last season.
"It was nice to make it two from two (against Brothers) just to confirm the first round wasn't a fluke," she said.
However Knight knows a bigger challenge lies ahead.
Young, who are looking to secure their maiden grand final appearance, stand in their way after taking a 14-8 win over Kangaroos three weeks ago.
The Cherrypickers completed an unbeaten regular season with a 94-0 win over Junee on Sunday, with the Diesels suffering another winless season.
Knight knows the Kangaroos have to be a lot better when the two sides meet at Twickenham on Sunday.
"They are a good team and played much better footy than us on the day but we didn't cope well with the weather at all," she said.
"I don't think we moved.
"It will be good not to play in ankle deep mud but just all we did was catch and pass so we have to find our go forward again.
"We defended really well on the weekend so we will look to do that again.
"We need to turn it around from Young big time."
Meanwhile Brothers will be out to regroup as they look to stay in the hunt for their ninth title in the past 10 seasons when they take on Gundagai on Saturday.
The Tigers secured their place in the finals with an 18-10 win over Tumut on Saturday.
Laci Bower scored 14 of her team's points as she crossed for a double and converted all three tries.
Their third straight win, their only three of the season, was just enough to keep them above Southcity on the ladder thanks to a superior for and against.
When the two teams met earlier this season Brothers came away from Anzac Park with a 10-6 victory.
