Two of the last four rounds of the season have been lost to wet weather leaving Football Wagga in a scheduling squeeze.
But Football Wagga has abandoned plans to hold three rounds of games after each competition splits into two, to ensure all teams meet at least once in the home and away season.
Football Wagga president Tony Dobbin said it was just another curveball thrown by the unique 2020 COVID season.
"We had a meeting with the clubs (last week) and basically what we're doing is, we had those original nine rounds plus three extra rounds to do some juggling. Those extra three have disappeared," Dobbin said.
"We're just going to make sure everybody plays each other once, which is important, and then split it.
"That's the only way it can work."
Under the original schedule, the Pascoe Cup competition would have been split into two after next weekend's round.
The top four teams would play-off for the Pascoe Cup, with the next four to compete for the Pascoe Plate, but both would have three rounds of games against each other before finals began.
Those extra three rounds have been scrapped in favour of fitting in the two rounds that were washed out.
In the Pascoe Cup at least, that means each club will face each other once before the two separate finals series begins.
For the moment, it also leaves a spare weekend.
"The one weekend we still have available is there for another wet weather round but also in some of the competitions there may still be a couple of matches on that weekend to make sure everyone does play each other once," Dobbin explained.
"Because some competitions have more than 10 teams."
The grand final weekend is locked in for October 24 and 25 regardless of what happens between now and then.
"That is set in stone," Dobbin said.
