Forest Hill Rural Fire Brigade deployed crews to the scene at Braehour Road about 3.30am on Wednesday, arriving in the pumper vehicle to extinguish the flames.
A spokesperson for the brigade said the vehicle was left destroyed.
"The damage was so bad that not even the brigade members could identify what make or model vehicle it was, but going by the shape it may have been a Ford Focus at a guess," they said.
The scene was rendered safe shortly after.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage, and the incident has been referred on to the Riverina Police District who are asking anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward.
Anyone wishing to report information can do so via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or by calling Wagga Police Station on 6922 2599.
