On Monday night, the city's councillors unanimously gave a green light for concept designs to be drawn up for specific elements of the Bolton Park masterplan that was endorsed by the council in June last year.
In a report, the council's strategic recreation officer said there is a need to undertake the next level of concept designs in order to develop detailed business cases and accurate budgets for the various elements of the project.

The designs will include the proposed sports hub, the tennis centre, Robertson Oval, Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre and relocating the croquet facility.
The report stated these concept design works will be used to support applications to gain the funding required for the project.
The upgrade of the city's main sporting and recreational precinct has already kicked off with a new multi-purpose facility, featuring four unisex changerooms suitable for all players to use before and after matches.
