Kooringal High started this year's series in brilliant fashion with impressive wins over Wagga High School and Mt Austin High School last week.
They will get their chance to book their place in the final when they meet Mater Dei Catholic College and KIldare Catholic College on Wednesday afternoon at Paramore Park.
Kooringal High coach Pat Logan said the team is excited by the position they find themselves in.
"Yeah we're really happy. The boys were a bit nervous heading in, it was a bit unexpected with all the COVID stuff that's going on, we didn't have as many training sessions as we wanted to," Logan said.
"We've got Damion Fraser coming in, to help with a bit of coaching and he's provided a fair bit of structure for the boys. It's a pretty simple game plan."
Kooringal High have not won the Hardy Shield since 2012. Logan said improvement was the major focus heading into this campaign.
"We were pretty disappointed with how we went last year so we wanted to improve. That was the main goal really, to improve on that," he said.
"We still exceeded our own expectations with some pretty comprehensive victories I guess."
Will Roworth and Joel Tracey were both standouts for Kooringal High last week and will again be main men if they are to win through to the final.
A win over Mater Dei in the opening game will book their spot.
"One win will get us into the final, but if we can get two that gives us that extra bit of confidence knowing we can beat every team in the comp," Logan said.
"I think it's that next level of competition having Mater Dei and Kildare. I watched their game from a distance and it was a pretty tight encounter. There will be heaps of focus on our defence and not letting them score at all."
