The Tigers launch their 2020 season up against Tumut at Twickenham on Saturday.
The arch rivals met in last year's preliminary with the Blues scoring their first win over the Tigers in nine years.
However Berkrey doesn't believe the result matters heading into the season opener.
"We've been training for a fair while now with our eyes on this game so we're keen to play," Berkrey said.
"Obviously Gundagai had won a fair few for a while there and Tumut got one back over us. It's all good for outside people to look at it and it might sound cliche but we just have to play and not worry about who won last game or last year.
"It doesn't matter when we run out."
Berkrey is part of a new-look forward pack after moving into the front row which is expected to be boosted by the arrival of Aisea Taholo from Queanbeyan Blues.
