The federal government has committed $41.2 million across 60 regional airports.
The Narrandera-Leeton Airport has secured multiple grants to a total of $753,775 to help meet safety requirements, with the funds to be spent on wildlife fencing, runway resealing and a lighting upgrade which would allow all-hours use of the airport.
The Tumut Aerodrome will receive 152,984 to commence Stage 1 of an infrastructure upgrade, while the Hay Aerodrome will receive $237,176 to spend on upgrades.
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said the government was investing in regional airports as part of a plan to support the aviation industry through the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
"For our regional communities, the local airport is an essential link to the rest of Australia," Mr McCormack said.
"The Government is investing in regional airports because we know this infrastructure is key to securing our regional aviation network now and into the post-COVID future.
