Schiller enjoyed a day out at Leeton, riding a winning treble, including a top effort on Bravado Lass ($3.00)) to win the $12,000 Coprice Leeton Cup Benchmark 58 Handicap (1600m).
Schiller showed great initiative on Bravado Lass, taking off before the 600 metre mark to put the mare into the race.
It was a move that paid off, as Bravado Lass dug deep in the home straight to fight off Geoff Duryea's pair, Kapover ($7.00) and Dottledo ($9.00) for a one-length win.
The win continued a strong preparation from Bravado Lass, who has now won three of her last five starts.
Colvin was glad he decided to back his mare up after running eighth in the Queen of the South on Wagga Gold Cup day.
"It was a bloody good race for her," Colvin said.
"She runs a strong mile and you have got to do that at Leeton. Do that and you'll be right in the finish because they get along a bit here, which suited her.
"I was a bit worried about backing her up. I don't normally do it but it looked a good race for her."
Colvin could not be happier with how Bravado Lass' preparation has gone this time. He said he will assess her rating before deciding what is next.
"There was a 1660 metre race coming up, but I'll have to check out her rating. She doesn't carry big weights too well because she's not very big so I'll have to look at that," Colvin said.
"She's won three races now so it's been a very good prep. She's looking well too.
"She's not blessed with a tonne of ability but if you pick the right races with her, you know what you're going to get. She's always very consistent."
Colvin praised Schiller for his ride.
"It was a very good ride. He summed the race up very well," he said.
Schiller's other two winners for the day came for his boss, Jerilderie trainer Phil Sweeney, on Free Lunch ($3.50) in the Breed & Hutchinson Real Estate Maiden Handicap (1050m) and Happy Lad ($5.50) in the Milbrae Business Group Class Two Handicap (1050m).
Albury trainer Mitchell Beer also got an immediate dividend with new stable addition, Chap's Dream ($1.85), as she bolted in to take out the Warbah Weighing Services Maiden Plate (1150m).
Wantabadgery trainer Rodger Waters and Wagga apprentice jockey Heni Ede also enjoyed success with Sizzleonthebridge ($3.80) in the Yenda Producers Benchmark 50 Handicap (1150m).
