The NSW government has deployed its 'Buy Regional' website to promote unique gift option for mums sourced from businesses in regions affected by drought, bushfire and the coronavirus pandemic.
Ashculme Textiles uses fleece grown from six alpacas at its five-acre property at Lake Albert to weave products including tote bags, scarves, shrugs, ponchos and table runners.
Owner Fiona Durman said nearly all of her sales in the past had come from markets but she was hoping to expand her online sales through the Buy Regional campaign.
"It's a really great way to widen your customer base because it brings people to your website who wouldn't otherwise find it," she said.
"It opens up the regional areas and what the region offers, which is so much.
"People love the story behind a product, especially if they are giving it as a gift. There's a huge awareness of that now."
More than 500,000 online shoppers have already visited the Buy Regional website since it was launched just before Christmas last year.

The Buy Regional site features six product categories including wine, fashion, food, gifts for kids and art and design and hampers and includes Wagga businesses such as Crowley's Hot Sauce and Riverina Fresh dairy.
Mrs Durman said he hoped that there were a lot of mums out there who needed a new fleece product, especially with the colder weather setting in.
"A lot of people are allergic to [sheep] wool or they don't like the scratchiness of of it.
"Alpaca doesn't have lanolin in it, it's very warm and very light and it doesn't have that prickliness."
A Department of Regional NSW spokesperson said Buy Regional had thousands of gift ideas for mum and was an easy way to give back to people in regional communities doing it tough.
"Mother's Day is a fantastic opportunity to discover last-minute gifts available from Buy Regional, whether you're hoping to give mum a piece she will treasure forever, or ordering some delicious regional produce to cook her breakfast in bed or as a sweet afternoon treat," the spokesperson said.
"While Sydneysiders are quite rightly staying away from regional NSW to slow the spread of COVID-19, Buy Regional gives people another avenue to spend money with regional retailers, and send money back into regional economies, all from the comfort of their couch."
