POLICE have charged a man for allegedly using a stolen car to travel to Gundagai where he set a tractor on fire.

Officers from the Riverina Police District joined forces with Hume District police to arrest the 54-year-old Victorian man and charge him with numerous offences.
Police allege the man drove a vehicle stolen from Albury to a property at South Gundagai on Saturday morning, where he entered the property and stole fuel from a parked tractor.
The man then allegedly set fire to the tractor before leaving the area.
Police say they attempted to stop the man. who failed to do so, as he drove along the Hume Highway and Muttama Road.

The following morning, April 19, a member of the public alerted police to a man in a vehicle parked along the Federal Highway near Goulburn, which police determined to be the stolen vehicle from Albury driven by the wanted man.
He was arrested and conveyed to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences including damage property by fire, stealing a motor vehicle, stealing fuel and failing to stop for police.
The man was refused bail to appear at Goulburn Local Court today, April 20.
