A Narrandera man wanted over an alleged aggravated break and enter remains behind bars after he was caught flouting coronavirus restrictions almost 200km from home.

Officers from the Murray River Police District were patrolling the Albury suburb of Lavington about 7pm on Friday when they saw a man riding a bicycle along the footpath on Griffith Road with no helmet.
The 18-year-old man was stopped and allegedly became aggressive and argumentative towards the officers.
According to police, he was unable to provide a reasonable excuse for being in the area when he lived in Narrandera, about 170km away.

Subsequent checks revealed the man was wanted and he was arrested.
The man was charged with aggravated break and enter and breach of bail.
He was refused bail and appeared in Wagga Local Court on Saturday, where he was formally refused bail to reappear in the same court on Monday.
The man was also slapped with a $1000 fine for breaching the Public Health Act.
