No team has won the major semi-final and backed it up to win the premiership two weeks later since Wagga RSL in the 2010-11 season.
Wagga City couldn't do it last season when South Wagga ended a grand final hoodoo of their own, after losing their previous five grand final appearances.
Cats captain Josh Thompson has been working on getting their preparation right.
"Everything has been orientated around playing South Wagga in the grand final for two weeks and we've focused on them," Thompson said.
"It will be good to put plans in place over the weekend and everything is confident and there is a good feel around the place."
Thompson is looking for more discipline with both bat and ball after the Blues have been able to get on top early in each of their four clashes so far this season.
Wagga City changed their approach from last season by having a centre practice at Wagga Cricket Ground on Sunday while the South Wagga side fought hard to get past St Michaels and set up the grand final rematch.
"There has been a lot more studying than work and we've played this team a lot, and a lot in finals, so it's about everyone playing their role," Thompson said.
South Wagga have made one change as they look to hit back against Wagga City and defend their crown.
The Blues have brought Mitch Sykes back into the side after he missed last week's dramatic win over St Michaels to secure a place in their fourth straight grand final.
Captain Joel Robinson didn't hesitate to bring back the experienced bowler who snared four wickets against the Cats last time out.
"You add Sykesy into any team and you turn into a winning chance," Robinson said. "He wasn't there last week and we got the job done but he will add massive overs for us this weekend."
Connor Willis comes out of the side and will be 12th man.
Wagga City head into the decider unchanged with Thompson happy to keep the same line up who scored a dramatic one-wicket win over the Blues.
