A combination of drought and bushfire smoke has dealt a blow to Wagga's retailers, with four Baylis Street business chains being placed into administration: Harris Scarfe, Jeanswest, Ishka, and now kikki.K.

All of kikki.K's stores currently remain open, however the company's new receiver said "everything is on the table" including the option of closing branches or selling the whole chain.
Wagga Business Chamber relationship manager Casey Wilson said the news came as a blow to the business community.
"The Chamber is saddened to see another retailer going into voluntary administration with the announcement this week from kikki.K," Ms Wilson said.
"It shows the importance of shopping locally, especially within our regions and within Australia."
Ms Wilson said it had been a tough retail season for Wagga businesses across the board, which is why they are doubling down on their message to residents to do their shopping closer to home.
"It's been a tough summer season with bushfires and with the ongoing effects of the drought, now is the time more than ever to be supporting our local businesses and local economies," she said.
