An incredible 55 floats will make their glittery, shimmery and rainbowed way down Baylis Street on Saturday, as the city gets its sparkle on for the 2020 Mardi Gras.

The second-ever Wagga Mardi Gras is shaping up to be the city's "biggest ever party", with at least 20 more floats taking part than in the 2019 inaugural event.
Organiser Holly Conroy said not only is the number of floats up substantially, but at least 1000 more people were planning to take part in this year's parade.
"I've been in Sydney in the last few days and even people there are talking about the Wagga Mardi Gras," she said.
"It's going to be absolutely huge."
The Mardi Gras will kick off at 5pm on Saturday, with the parade down Baylis Street.
It will be followed by an after party in the Victory Memorial Gardens.
On Friday, March 13, which has been dubbed Mardi Gras Eve, the fun will be at Que Bar, which is hosting Aja featuring Shilow and five of Melbourne's best drag queens, including Missy La'Minx, Miss Poppie, Sasha Starr, Taylor Made and Tequila Mockingbird.

On Sunday, March 15, there will be a recovery market and breakfast from 10am.

Ms Conroy said she had made some changes to this year's Mardi Gras, based on the feedback from the 2019 event.
The 2020 Mardi Gras parade will have more music and there will be more food vendors at the after party on Saturday, as well as a special children's zone with activities including a jumping castle and the space allocated to the big event will also be larger than 2019.
A group of about 30 people from the Zana Aerial Dance Academy will be jumping about their purple float, for the second year.
Heather Shaw from Zana said the group had been working on a routine, which would split participants between the float and performing at street level, for four weeks.
"But we were talking about it and planning it for even longer," Ms Shaw said.
"We are just so excited to be involved in celebrating how inclusive and welcoming Wagga can be."
