Collingullie-Glenfield Park secured the signing of Klemke this week as they look to return to finals and bounce back from a disappointing 2019 season.
The 25-year-old underwent a knee reconstruction and does not expect to return to the field until June.
Klemke is happy to be back home.
"It's good to be back," Klemke said.
"I'm not really a city boy. It will be good to be back in the country and enjoy doing what I love."
Klemke took some time to work out his plans for the upcoming season. In the end, he could not see himself anywhere but at the Demons.
"I was considering a few things and I had a chat to the other (Klemke) boys to see what we each wanted to do," he said.
"I'm pretty loyal and wanted to go back to the club I spent six good years at. I also made the decision for my business as well."
Klemke's return won't be a family reunion. His elder brother, Ben, has left Collingullie-GP after two seasons to coach AFL Sydney club Inner West Magpies.
Matt, the youngest, is undecided on his future after sitting last season out.
Klemke is a four-time best and fairest winner at the Demons, played in three premierships and was the club's co-captain before his departure.
He is disappointed his move to Adelaide did not work out but is looking forward to eventually getting back on the paddock this year.
"I can't do much about what happened, it was just very unlucky," he said.
"The knee is pretty good. It's been pretty slow. Ten months down, four to go.
"It's hard to say when I'll play. Somewhere between four, five, six rounds in I hope. It's more just a confidence thing."
Klemke joins Ben Absolum and Ned Mortimer as players returning to Crossroads Oval this season under new coach Brett Somerville.
They have lost some players, however, with Luke Gestier, Nick Perryman, Ben Klemke and Sean Keith among the departures, while best and fairest winner Blake Harper is expected to miss the season through injury.
John Buchanan has also been linked with a return to Wagga Tigers.
