A whirlwind couple of months continued for Colvin this week when she was named to make her debut for Melbourne in their round one clash with North Melbourne.
Colvin has been named on a half-back flank for the Demons in the clash at Casey Fields at 3.10pm.
Colvin is feeling a range of emotions ahead of the big moment.
"I'm very nervous but mainly excited," Colvin said.
"I just want to get out there and get on the field. I'm ready for it now."
Colvin was selected with pick number 77 in the AFLW Draft last October after a big season with VFLW club Darebin.
It was just her third season of Australian rules after excelling at netball while in Wagga.
Colvin was surprised to learn of her selection in the round one team despite enjoying her first pre-season at AFLW level.
"Pre-season was good. It's one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life, in a good way. It challenged me a lot," she said.
"I had a rough start, I hurt my ankle a week before pre-season and missed the first two weeks, which was quite frustrating. Once I did get out there, I took a while to find my feet but once I did it was alright."
Colvin, 28, is looking forward to playing across half-back for the Demons.
"I'm very excited about that," she said.
"I've just got to play my role as a half-back flanker, do that for the team and hopefully make everyone happy.
"It's been such a great experience already. The coaches have helped me so much. It's just insane."
Colvin's parents, Gary and Karen, her partner Nathan, and family and friends will all be in attendance for the big moment.
She expects North Melbourne to be tough opposition.
"North Melbourne are favourites to win and are also favourites for the conference. They've got quite a strong team so I think they're one of the teams to beat," she said.
"But we've also got quite a strong team. We've been riddled by injury, we've been very unlucky but the team is still quite strong. It will be good to get out there and hopefully we can play the way we've been training. Fingers crossed we can come away with the win."
