Charming Pat will contest the $2 million Inglis Millennium 2YO (1100m) at Warwick Farm.
With heavy rain hitting Sydney hard, the meeting may be moved to Rosehill on Saturday, pending the conditions of both tracks.
Sutherland hopes the heavy conditions will help Charming Pat's chances, rather than harm them.
"His whole family have good form in New Zealand and Europe so that makes me think he will handle the track," Sutherland said.
Charming Pat has placed in three of his four race starts and is a $71 chance for Saturday's two-year-old feature.
He has run two seconds and a third at Canberra, and then was 10th behind Wild Ruler in the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Randwick in December.
Sutherland believes the Charm Spirit colt deserves his chance.
"He's raced a lot of them before and he's fit," he said.
"With the wet track, we don't know, but the breed normally handle it.
"I think he'll be quite competitive."
Sutherland is pleased for connections that they will have a runner in such a lucrative two-year-old race.
"He deserves his place in it," he said.
"They're two-year-olds, he does everything right so we'll see how he goes."
Blaike McDougall will take the ride, with Charming Pat drawn in barrier 14.
He will also take the ride on stablemate Let's Get Animal in the $75,000 TAB Highway Class Three Handicap (1200m).
Let's Get Animal will be on the back up after running 13th first-up in the Championships Preview (1400m) at Albury on Tuesday.
Sutherland expects an improved performance.
"First up over the 1400 they went fast the other day and he was exposed a little bit early," he said.
"He has a great record on wet tracks and the 1200 metres should suit as well."
It will be the four-year-old's last hit-out before the SDRA Country Championships Qualifier (1400m) at Albury on February 22.
