More specifically, he turned his sleeplessness into music, writing songs about what he was reading and feeling as a father.
"[My son] Toby would wake us up all night long, so I got into a routine of reading scripture and putting it into song," said the Mater Dei Primary School teacher.
"Some of the other songs came from other experience, [for example], the father's day song came out when I was reflecting on my own dad and how I am now a dad."
The resulting 14 songs Mr Enever turned into an album with the help of students in the school's choir.
"Nine of the songs have the students singing on them," he said.
"They were all in the choir, so I asked for any volunteers and a dozen were keen.
"They had to give up their lunch times and after school to go to the studio, so it was a big commitment for them and their parents."
With the album, entitled 'Be The Light' was released to Spotify on Friday.
Although not chosen specifically, the date does have significance to the album, being that it is a day after Mr Enever's son Toby's second birthday.
To celebrate its release, Mr Enever has also decided to turn its profits into charity to help fire-affected communities across the country.
"I've decided that 50 per cent of the sale of the CD - both the physical copy and the digital downloads - sold in February and March will go to the Red Cross and Vinnies bushfire appeals," Mr Enever said.
Now that the project has finished, the star students are preparing to continue their careers as backing singers.
"At home, when I have time I still practice the songs," said nine-year-old Maddi Norman.
"If Mr Enever makes another [album], I'll join."
