This week's heatwave will abate just in time for the Ganmain Triathlon, the first of five events in the series.
Hamblin, 19, will officially step up to the open division this year, with defending series champion Mazzochi expected to return for the rest of the series.
"I've finished a few places behind here every triathlon," Hamblin said.
"She's such an amazing bike rider, no one can catch her there but I've been training bit more this year, which has been helpful.
"My weakest leg is the bike so I've been concentrating on improving that, but the running comes pretty easily to me.
"By the end of it you wish there was more races simply because by then you're at your fittest and you've worked out how competitive everyone else is."
Hamblin is involved with the coaching department of Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong's netball side this year and has urged teammates to enter the returning club challenge, which pits junior and senior footballers and netballers against each other.
"We're trying to put it across as pre season training," Hamblin said.
"Just motivating other people is a priority for me now I'm involved in coaching, taking that extra step up as well as participating."
Registration for Sunday's racing opens at 7am, with the open event held over a 1km run-20km cycle-150m swim-5km run format scheduled to begin at 9.30am.
