Stage one of the roadworks was expected to be near completion by the beginning of term one, but have been delayed by at least a week due to "unforeseen circumstances", the council has said.
The section of the road currently under reconstruction sits with proximity to the bus zone and drop-off zone at The Riverina Anglican College.
For the duration of the roadworks, access to the school will only be permitted to drivers via the Coolamon Road turn-off, on the eastern side of Farrer Road.
