The Tigers premiership-winning coach has linked with Group Two club Coffs Harbour Comets as he looks for a sea change.
The 30-year-old thought the time was right to make the move after seven seasons with the Tigers.
"It's a good lifestyle change," Woo said.
"Everything feel into place nicely and the footy club up there helped me out a lot.
"My partner and I both have employment there and everything just fell into place.
"It should be a good move for us."
The Comets have been in five of the last seven grand finals, winning two.
The workhorse second rower was at the helm as Gundagai ended their 32-year premiership drought.
They had been beaten in nine grand finals since 1983 before breaking through against his hometown club Junee.
Coaching the Tigers to the 2015 grand final is the highlight for Woo at the club.
"The 2015 premiership is definitely the highlight of my career and it will be pretty tough to beat," he said.
"From a playing point of view it is definitely a highlight but overall my time meeting so many new friends and with the club just like family it made the decision pretty tough."
Woo missed their 2018 premiership success after suffering a serious knee injury in round one.
He also missed their preliminary final loss to Tumut last year after being hospitalised in the lead up to the game.
However Woo has been given the all clear to play on.
"They put it down to a virus which gave some funny readings on my MRI with some inflammation near my brain but it has all cleared now," he said.
"It was a bit of a scare and in situations like that you do have to put your health first but it was pretty disappointing to end my playing time at Gundagai not knowing it was my last game.
"That is just how things work out sometimes."
Instead the extra-time thriller against Southcity shapes as his last game for the Tigers.
"I really would have liked to go out with a premiership but it was a great game actually, one of the toughest games as it was hot and we played for that long, but it was a disappointing end for our team as a whole," Woo said.
It comes after reigning Weissel Medal winner James Luff linked with Queanbeyan Kangaroos.
Gundagai coach Adam Perry admitted Woo would be a big loss for the side but is looking to put some of their younger talent to the test this season.
"He gets along with all the boys really well, leads by example at training and off the field as well so he will be a loss for us," Perry said.
"But in saying that it gives a few young blokes an opportunity - guys like Jake Elphick, Tallis Cotterill and Riley Britt, who have been pushing for first grade - it gives them a real crack at it this year."
He's confident there is still plenty of experience in the side with James Smart, Luke Berkrey and Blake Dunn all former captain-coaches in Group Nine.
