Held as a precursor to the Zone Eastern Riverina Championships at Wagga on December 1, two track records and seven field records were eclipsed.
Albury's Kijema McCowan broke a long-standing record in the 12 years female triple jump with a leap of 9.80m, shattering the previous benchmark of 9.52m set by Alisha House way back in 2000.
Kooringal's Henry Cook also broke a long-standing record in the 17 years high jump by clearing 1.75m.
Temora's Sophie Bowley set new meet records in 17 years female triple jump (11.23m) and long jump (5.11m), while Wangaratta's Lachlan Carty did likewise in the 17 years boys triple jump (12.46m) and long jump (5.97m).
"We had about 210 entries from all across the Riverina region, ranging from Wangaratta right up to Orange and out to Griffith," Wagga Little Athletics Club's carnival organiser Hamish Wheatley said.
"We had beautiful weather and there was a few records broken across the day as well.
"The numbers were pretty consistent compared to most years, everyone could see it was going to be a pretty good hit out before the zone carnival."
Other meet records that were broken on Sunday included Tumut's Jack Gould in the 17 years 1500m (4:38.50), Wagga's Leyla Liakatos in the 17 years 800m (2:26.02), and Temora's Damian Wells in the 17 years shot put (12.38m).
Entries for the zone carnival were due to close yesterday, with this year's regional championship to take place in Wollongong.
