Riverina Police District Superintendent Bob Noble said the operation kicked off at midnight on Thursday.
"It will run through until midnight on Sunday," he said.
"It's a general road blitz with a focus on impaired driving by alcohol or drugs.
"We will also be focusing on hoon-driving, street racing and particularly with wet weather, there will be a focus on vehicle standards."
Superintendent Noble said this was an opportunity to send a strong message to the community that anyone breaking the law will face the consequences.
"There will be an increased presence of police on the roads, conducting mobile and stationary drug and alcohol breath testing," he said.
