Saints play the other three of sides not in the two top in the next three rounds.
They face winless Kooringal Colts in a Twenty20 on Saturday before taking on Lake Albert and Wagga RSL in the first of the two-dayers.
Ward is desperate to win at least two of them after just one victory from their first four matches.
"We definitely need not just this week but another win to back it up," Ward said.
"We've got Colts the Lake Albert then RSL and really need to win two of the three to put ourselves in the position to look at finals as at the moment we are struggling."
St Michaels fell 69 runs short of Wagga City's total of 5-328 last week.
Ward believes there has been some positives from their start to the season but he's looking for more consistency.
"We're just struggling to put a full game performance together," he said.
"We let ourselves down in the field with our bowling last week and to let them get 240 is probably disappointing considering we had kept them under wraps for most of the innings."
Coming off an important 59 last week, Nathan Corby comes out of the side for the clash at Harris Park.
