Sydney FC is looking for match practice ahead of the showdown with Newcastle United at Equex Centre and will take on the Wanderers on Friday night.
It will be invaluable experience for the Wagga women's team coming off a tough debut season in Canberra's National Premier League.
"It's a very exciting opportunity to play against a quality side," Wanderers' Brooke Gayler said.
"They want a bit of a training run and to get a feel for the pitch. It'll be a big learning curve for us, seeing that potential quality that players can get to and how much different that next step up is."
They'll play three 20-minute periods and the Wanderers will do all they can to limit the visitors' opportunities.
"Our focus is on trying to keep the ball," Gayler said.
"They'll be faster and have more class than us so we'll focus on keeping the ball and just being strong throughout the whole field."
It's also likely to be the rising star's farewell from the Wanderers, with a move to Melbourne for university, and a new club, Heidelberg United, on the cards.
Gayler said Sunday's game is a fantastic boost for women's soccer in the region, bringing vital exposure to the sport and capitalising on Football Wagga's parternship with Sydney FC.
The Sky Blues are making a long weekend of the occasion.
Most of the squad arrives on Friday, with players involved in a school visit during the day before training and the practice match against the Wanderers in the evening.
On Saturday morning, Sydney FC and Football Wagga will host an all-girls gala event from 9am at Equex, including a small-sided world cup, before a meet-and-greet with players.
Registration for the free event is required by 5pm Friday. The gala day is open to girls aged five to 16.
