Forty years after the deaths of Michael Larkins, David Mumford and Derek Rogers the two clubs they played for will battle it out for the cup named in their honour at Robertson Oval on Saturday.
It will be the sixth time the cup will be played for and after winning the last two Lake Albert captain Isaac Cooper is looking for keep it firmly in their grasps.
However with the Blues undefeated to start the season he admits the side will need to step up.
"It's a big year this year with the 40th anniversary so it means a lot to the club this year and it would be nice to keep it in our hands," Cooper said.
"South Wagga set the mark so far this year and it will be a tough task on Saturday but we are looking forward to it."
Lake Albert lost plenty of quality players over the off-season, including having Alex Smeeth and Lachie Skelly move across to South Wagga.
However they've started the season brightly with two wins from three matches.
Cooper admitted they've surprised themselves with the start but now they are keen to keep it going.
"We've started alright and have probably surprised ourselves to be honest," he said.
"We're pretty happy with two (wins) and one (loss) at the moment but there is more improvements to be had."
He's looking for more consistency after a good win over Wagga RSL last week.
The Blues have two big inclusions for the clash.
After missing the big win over St Michaels last week, Mitch Sykes and Warren Clunes come back into the side.
Stand-in skipper Joel Robinson is buoyed by their return.
"Clunes is taking the gloves for the time being while Sykesy is probably the best spinner in the club so we're very happy to have them back on board," Robinson said.
Connor Willis and Seb Graf come out of the side.
Lake Albert have made some changes as well with Danny Webber and Sam Quinton coming into the side with Jason Wells, Nathan Charlton and Tim Post out.
With all four grades contributing to the overall tally games will be played at the Bolton Park precinct with first grade starting at 4pm.
