After clocking 30.42 seconds in his first start last week, Bar Raiser is looking to make it two from two in the AGM 10th November Stakes (320m).
Hartley was pleased with his efforts.
"He went well and is fairly quick early," Hartley said.
"He's going well and I expect him to go well on Friday night."
He's drawn box five this time around, which doesn't worry the Forest Hill trainer.
However Hartley is wary of the threat posed from Rod Oakman's Tranquil Gypsy, who is also coming off a last start win.
"Rodney Oakman's dog is the one (to beat) but box five doesn't worry him," Hartley said.
"He jumps well."
It took some time to get Bar Raiser to the track.
However a break seems to have done wonders and Hartley is looking forward to what is in store.
"When I first going he would go real wide in the corners, really stop and almost end up in the 500 yard boxes as he was that sore in the wrists," he said.
"When I went away on holidays I just turned him out for a month and leave him to run around a paddock of his own free will."
He believes he's a young dog with a bright future.
It's an exciting time for the Forest Hill trainer who has two dogs in the running for the Million Dollar Chase.
Brothers Shanjo Prince and Tennessee Tiger have both qualified for next week's semi-finals at Wentworth Park.
Hartley used to own and train the pair before sending them to Sydney trainer Mark Gatt in search for better opportunities.
Shanjo Prince was second in the regional final at Richmond while Tennessee Tiger overcame a poor start to finish fourth at Goulburn last week.
Hartley can't wait for what lies ahead in the nation's richest greyhound series.
"I spoke to the trainer and he's very happy with them and their trials since," he said.
"I just hope they keep sound and they keep on going."
The draw for the semi-finals, which will also include Brian Smith's Ultimate Speed, will be released on Tuesday.
However only the winner of each of the eight semi-finals will progress to the final the following week.
Hartley will be trackside for the big night, just as he was for both of the regional finals.
Wagga's 10-race card starts at 6.31pm while Every Chance is looking to make it four wins from her last five starts in the feature race.
