A Riverina security company has been hit with thousands in fines after allegedly failing to maintain employment records.

In a statement Riverina Police District said the licensing team recently completed an investigation of a security master licence holder in the Tumut area.
"The investigation identified hundreds of offences relating to the failure to maintain appropriate records concerning the employment of security guards in licensed premises," the statement read.
"The company has been issued with infringements totaling $4400."
In the wake of the investigation, the Riverina Police District "strongly advises" security master licence holders to ensure they maintain appropriate records at all times.
