With Nick Skinner a withdrawal on Sunday morning and winger Harry Lucas also out of the side who downed Tumut last week, McCarthy was already thin of numbers before picking up more concerns at Anzac Park.
Ben Lucas played only a few minutes in the second half due to a groin complaint while Cameron Copeland (ribs) and Tim Jones (head knock) also failed to play out the game.
With Nathan Rose also on the comeback from injury and Hayden Jeans sidelined with a calf complaint McCarthy believes the rest will do wonders.
"It was an absolute battle so that week off couldn't have come at any better time," McCarthy said.
"We are going to use it well."
McCarthy is hopeful they will all be right for the grand final at Equex Centre on September 15.
