Get a taste for the industry you want a career in by trying a short course at the Riverina Community College before committing to long-term study or employment.
Riverina Community College offers vocational study options as a pathway into employment.
"We offer short courses as well as full qualifications at Certificates II, III and IV," Client Liaison Coordinator Lisa Douglas said.
"Our most popular courses are hospitality and individual support.
"Our short courses are also in high demand, including the bar skill group which includes RSA and RCG, café skill group, reception skill group and community services skill group.
"Our Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) is particularly popular, as this is an ever-growing industry."
Completing a short course is the best way for students to understand an industry and experience it first hand.
"By undertaking short courses to get a taste of what a full qualification may involve as well as what the industry is like," Lisa said.
"Attending information sessions is also a great way to identify their potential career pathway.
"This gives the student an opportunity to speak to our professional staff about their interests and career goals."
Students are supported throughout the entire course to ensure they get the best outcome.
"We support our students by providing small, flexible classes with learner support staff available in most classes," Lisa said.
"We provide an individualised approach to our students, to ensure they get the most out of their course.
"Many of our courses are designed to prepare graduates for the workplace by including specific work readiness training and in longer courses, work placement is included.
"Riverina Community College holds strong relationships with local businesses. We tailor our courses to suit Industry and the types of skills they are looking for in their employees."
