This year's theme was 'Reading is my Secret Power', with children embodying everything from superheroes to princesses and even the Three Blind Mice.
Christian College teacher librarian Justine Tonkin said the event was the result of a whole-school effort.
"It is wonderful to see the students getting so excited about the book parade, the teachers get into the spirit of the day as well," she said.
Book Week coincided with Grandparents Day this year at the school, filling the multi-purpose hall to the brim with proud family members.
One grandmother at the parade was Beryl Dunn, who said it was "lovely to see the enthusiasm".
"It's so good to see the mums and dads putting in so much effort for these gorgeous costumes, it's really great to be a part of," she said.
Margaret Bergmeier had a few grandchildren in the parade, including year 12 student Ella Bergmeier whose cohort got a temporary escape from study.
In other news:
"I've been to so many of these it's too hard to count, and I love it every time, it's wonderful to see the children come together for a bit of fun," Margaret said.
Ella said she hadn't taken part in a book week dress up since she was little.
"It's a good distraction from our exams next week, it's nice to have a bit of fun and to have another go and be included," she said.
Head of Junior School Jane Greenlees enjoyed seeing the family involvement.
"Parents and grandparents are so supportive of the parade, the college multi-purpose centre is always brimming with onlookers," she said.
