The Lions have reappointed Macri for a third season in charge, just a month out from the start of a second consecutive finals campaign.
The Lions had just finished in eighth spot at the end of 2017 when Macri was wooed back to the club and with minimal recruitment he oversaw a finals win in his first year.
GGGM sit in fourth spot with three rounds remaining this year and are guaranteed at least one finals appearance.
Macri said it was a 'no brainer' to accept another year as coach at GGGM.
"It's something that's always been on the radar, the club's happy to go forward, I'm happy to go forward so it was a pretty easy conversation," Macri said.
"I have really enjoyed it. It was always a year to year prospect but I'm enjoying it that much that it was a no brainer to continue on. The club's been fantastic to me and my family, the things we've been able to turnaround in the last couple of years has been positive and we want to keep pushing forward and see where it takes us."
Macri is happy with the environment that is building at Ganmain Sportsground.
"They're playing a good brand of footy and the boys are enjoying that. More importantly they're enjoying playing footy and playing together so that's always part of it, turning around the positivity in the club," he said.
"It was a bit of a flat place for a few years but we've turned into in a positive and things are looking up."
Macri said the priority, aside from this year's campaign, for the Lions is to retain this year's playing list. Then, he believes, it is important to add some fresh blood.
"Obviously to continue to sign our current list, which we're managing to do, which is good," Macri said.
"You look at a guy like Matty Hamblin, who provides that small forward speed, we'll probably need someone like him because he won't be with us much next year, playing all of his under 18 rep footy, which we fully encourage so there's one position we need to try and lock down.
"A key forward, whether it's a deep forward or a centre-half-forward. Benny Walsh has done a great job at centre-half-forward but needs some support as well. So that's obviously a priority as well.
"Then it just depends on what comes together with the rest of the list. You always need to add something to your list to freshen it up as well so we'll keep searching to try and land what we're after."
GGGM take on Griffith at Exies Oval on Sunday. They will welcome back Scott Proctor and Jack Sase from illness, but lose Matt Hamblin to under 17 representative commitments.
Fresh from a big win over Turvey Park last Sunday, the Lions are keen to see how they measure up against the Swans.
"Absolutely, really excited by it. Obviously they beat us first time around this year and we're keen to put in a strong performance," he said.
"Ideally, down the track we'd hopefully like to meet them in a final. We're probably going to have to win one or two to get there but you just never know with teams you're playing, it's good to have good form against them, it doesn't count for everything if you get another chance but we're just looking forward to playing well.
"We set ourselves to play our last three weeks strongly after a poor game at Mango and we did that last week. Consistent footy is what we need to see so that's the plan."
