Delahunty returned home to Coolamon for a few days this week after a three-week stint training full-time with the Giants.
That three-week stint has now been extended and the 18-year-old has returned to Sydney for another two and a half weeks with the Giants.
The move by the Giants has virtually ruled out Delahunty playing any part in Coolamon's Riverina League campaign as he tries to do everything possible to enhance his draft prospects for the end of the year.
"It's been good. It's been a bit different from pre-season, just with the training load, it's been a bit easier, but it's been good," Delahunty said.
Since the end of the AFL under 18 national championships, Delahunty has been used by the Giants to play for their North Eastern Australian Football League (NEAFL) team.
The tall utility has played five NEAFL games to date, kicking seven goals and had 20 disposals and five marks in his most recent appearance against Sydney Swans last Saturday.
This comes on the back of being named last week among the invitees to the four-day AFL Draft Combine in October.
Delahunty is happy to get an invite.
"It's a pretty good result. My champs weren't super great so I wasn't sure where I stood," he said.
"I guess it's a bit of relief to know there is a few clubs interested still."
He is happy enough with how his chances are shaping up for the draft later in the year.
"I guess so. There are worse spots to be in," he said.
"I'm not really too stressed about it. I've still got a bit of nerves but time will tell."
Delahunty has spent most of his time with the Giants at full-forward, after playing a lot at centre-half-back for the Allies at the national championships.
He has not played for Coolamon this season but did represent Riverina League in the representative loss to AFL Canberra.
Delahunty said he will spend the rest of the season playing with the Giants and then training for the AFL Combine.
Riverina will also be represented at the AFL Combine by Leeton's Cooper Sharman, who is now playing with Balwyn.
